Spring into Action! It's the perfect time to refresh your skills or develop a new one (or two).

This semester, the University Human Resources, Professional Development & Learning (PDL) Office is pleased to provide engaging and impactful DCAS courses. These sessions will be held at the CUNY Central Office, located at 395 Hudson Street, NYC. Employees eager to enhance their professional skills can explore the attached flyer for a complete list of upcoming sessions.

A few courses to anticipate:

  • Six Steps to Solving Your Most Challenging Problems – 3/12/2025

Is there an issue/challenge/situation you would like to improve? This workshop will help you to accurately identify the real problem, collect all the necessary information and gain clarity before developing solutions. It will also assist participants in exploring innovative approaches that will help increase the number and quality of options that can be generated. Finally, it will give you the tools to select an option and create an implementation plan with a review process, to capture your learnings and monitor progress.

  • Attitude is Everything – 3/19/2025

Attitude is a highly personal and sensitive topic. As attitudes deteriorate, so do commitment, loyalty and, most importantly, performance. Everyone encounters setbacks that can shake their attitude into a negative focus. This course provides individuals with the knowledge and skills to develop and maintain positive attitudes while becoming sensitive to underlying causes leading to negative attitudes. Participants will explore various methods for responding to different attitudes positively and productively..

  • Important Soft Skills Necessary in the Workplace – 3/26/2025

Soft skills – such as attitude, work ethic and adaptability – are a necessity in a face-paced, competitive work environment. If you don’t have them, you’re at an extreme disadvantage. In this course, you’ll learn the definition of soft skills and we’ll teach the intricacies of many of those skills, including: communication, teamwork, and problem solving, to name a few. You’ll understand the key soft skills everyone should possess to help relate more effectively to others. In addition, you’ll learn how to develop and enhance your soft skills to improve your professionalism in the workplace

The cost of attending a session range from $75 to $150 per person. We encourage all employees to participate whenever possible. Please note that staff must obtain their supervisor’s approval before registering for any professional development courses

More information on specific sessions, including registration procedures, can be found in the PDL Spring Course Offerings on the PDL website.

Classes are filling up quickly, so be sure to register as soon as possible to secure your seat. PDL Spring Course Registration Form
