Two Hunter Accounting students, Ms. Marlene Uraga and Ms. Ying Weng, have received $2,500 scholarships from the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) for “Excellence in Accounting”.
Marlene is a senior accounting major and expects to graduate in Spring 2020. Marlene volunteers with the Food Bank of New York City and Hunter’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which helps low income New Yorkers file their taxes for free. Marlene also works as a financial coach with The Financial Clinic, which involves evaluating client credit reports and budgets to help attain financial stability.
Ying is a senior accounting major and expects to graduate in Spring 2020. Ying currently works at a CPA firm in Manhattan, where she prepares individual and corporate tax returns.
