Award-winning writer Kaitlyn Greenidge MFA ’10, author of two novels and the features director of Harper’s Bazaar, has been named to the 2025 Hunter College Alumni Association Hall of Fame.
Greenidge, a Hunter 40-Under-40 honoree and graduate of its acclaimed MFA Creative Writing Program, will be awarded the honor during a ceremony at Hunter on March 28.
Greenidge’s debut novel, We Love You, Charlie Freeman (Algonquin Books), about the experiences of a Black family in rural Massachusetts, was named a “Times Critics’ Top 10 Book of 2016.” Its successor, Libertie (Workman), a historical novel about a freeborn Black girl in Reconstruction-era Brooklyn, was tapped as one of the “Best Books of 2021” by New York Magazine and won the Whiting Award in Fiction.
“Kaitlyn Greenidge is a singular talent and a writer the program is very proud to have as an alum. She richly deserves this honor,” said MFA Creative Writing Director Adam Haslett. “The seriousness and depth of her work is an example for all our students.”
The Hall of Fame Committee of the Alumni Association of Hunter College inducts alumni for service to the college and/or outstanding accomplishments and service to the community. Inductees are listed by year on plaques in the West Lobby at Hunter’s 68th Street campus.
