A labor- and employment-law attorney, she started as a manager of Hunter’s Labor Relations in 2013 and rose to become the director of employee relations and legal counsel to Human Resources at Hunter in 2016.
As part of Hunter’s Human Resources team, she provided legal guidance on workplace issues and policies and dealt with contract and ethics violations, union grievances, compliance, employee misconduct, and arbitration.
Skilled in administrative discipline, arbitration, criminal law, employment law, and litigation, Blackman served as an attorney for New York City Transit, resolving labor disputes, conducting disciplinary arbitrations, and investigating employee and management misconduct.
She also worked as an agency attorney for the NYPD, investigating and prosecuting officers and civilian employees administratively and through arbitration. Earlier, she worked as an assistant district attorney in Queens under DA Richard Brown.
Blackman earned her JD from Hofstra Law School and BA in Criminal Justice from John Jay College.
