Anatoli Samochornov is an adjunct lecturer in Hunter's Division of Russian and Slavic Studies. He has worked for more than 30 years as a translator and interpreter in government, business, media and academia, including as for the federal court system and the U.S. State Department. Samochornov said he is interested in the intersection of translation, linguistics, philosophy of language, and semiotics. “I find it fascinating that we are still only at the very beginning of the process of understanding how we communicate and think, and yet our way of communicating has undergone a dramatic change,” he said. He is proud that his skills have served to connect people, especially at summits and other important meetings.
Samochornov earned Master of Arts in Translation and Interpreting from the Institute of Foreign Languages in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington – Seattle.
