Asa Mendelsohn teaches gender/sexuality and media courses at Hunter College and facilitates filmmaking workshops through the Center for Urban Pedagogy. He is also a psychotherapist, working with adolescents and adults individually, in relationships, and in groups. Asa’s earlier academic training was in cultural anthropology and visual arts. He has contributed to collaborative art and education projects while learning from struggles against colonial and imperial violence in Chicago, Vienna, and San Diego. This work has been supported by a Fulbright Fellowship and an Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant and presented internationally in museums, film festivals, and community spaces.
