Profile

Avi Liveson teaches Federal Income Taxation of Individuals, Business Taxes, and Business Law as a professor in the Department of Economics at Hunter College. As an educator, he is most proud of helping his students advance towards careers in accounting, and some in law, with an appreciation for the importance of clear thinking and good moral character. He enjoys the challenge of presenting complex legal concepts in a clear, organized and lively fashion, and is inspired by his students and the support of his colleagues.

Mr. Liveson's research focuses primarily on federal income taxation of individuals and partnership taxation. Several of his articles in legal (tax) journals such as The Journal of Taxation, Journal of Partnership Taxation and Journal of Partnership Taxation, have contributed to the fields of income taxation in general, and partnership taxation in particular.

Mr. Liveson obtained a BA in economics at Brandeis University, a JD at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and a Master of Laws (LLM) in Taxation at New York University School of Law.
