Barry Cherkas

Professor

Dr. Barry Cherkas's main focus is on collegiate mathematics education. He is proud to have served Hunter College for 50 years.

PROFILE

Barry Cherkas, PhD, is a professor and the former chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. With over 50 years of service at Hunter College, he is committed to improving and further progressing the department's success, and has been instrumental in making courses accessible online.

His main areas of research include pedagogical issues in the teaching and learning of mathematics, misconceptions in mathematics as well as mathematics teacher education.

Barry has authored several scholastic pieces centered around collegiate mathematics education and is the co-founder of the popular phone app, Word Squares LLC.
