Danuta Świątek, an adjunct lecturer in Hunter College’s Polish Program, has published hundreds of articles on Polish language and culture and the benefits of bilingualism. She has served as a research manager for “Polish Your Polish” in partnership with the Warsaw-based Polish Academy of Sciences. She is the editor of DobraSzkolaNowyYork, a website promoting bilingualism among the Polish Americans, and is an organizer of Polish Bilingual Day, an annual event promoting the Polish language in America.
Świątek has won the Medal of the Polish Education Committee/Medal Komisji Narodowej, the most prestigious award for Polish teachers in Poland and abroad, and the Dr. Janusz Korczak Award of Korczak University, one of the oldest private universities in Poland. She is the author of a Polish-language guide to New York City and several children’s books. Świątek earned a Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University in the City of New York and a Master of Political Science from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland.
