Dr. Michelle Liu is an associate professor in the Department of Economics.

Profile

Dr. Michelle Liu is an associate professor of accounting in the Department of Economics at Hunter College. She teaches courses on big data, data analytics, computer accounting systems and advanced accounting to students majoring in accounting. She also conducts outreach to current students in the program as well as alumni.

Dr. Liu's research focuses on public policies set by the SEC and on firm accounting restatements. Her work has been featured in numerous publications including the Journal of Accounting and Economics, Review of Accounting Studies, European Financial Management and many others.

She holds a doctorate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an undergraduate degree from the Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business. Dr. Liu is also a certified public accountant (CPA) licensed in New York since 2010.
