Portia Seddon is a doctoral candidate in the Ethnomusicology Program at the CUNY Graduate Center. She earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees in Anthropology from Hunter College, CUNY, and holds an M.Phil. in Music from the CUNY Graduate Center. Portia has taught at Hunter College, CUNY in the Women & Gender Studies Department since 2012. Her research is on Mexican rock music and state violence, and her dissertation explores punk and ska in the Mexican diaspora in New York City.
