2nd Annual Climate Science and Action Forum

In recognition of Earth Day, the Hunter College, Department of Geography and Environmental Science is excited to host the 2nd Annual Climate Science and Action Forum.

Climate change continues as one of the most important challenges of our times, with profound effects on our quality of life, natural resources, ecosystems and social dynamics globally. At the same time, an unprecedented effort has been underway by the U.S. federal government to dramatically cut back basic science research, and eliminate programs and efforts associated with climate science. This year’s Forum is designed to assess the implications of these actions and promote strategies to continue the critical work and define opportunities to protect and advance these efforts in the future. The panelists will present their cutting-edge perspectives and research through short presentations, a mediated conversation and open dialogue with the audience. Students, faculty and staff from all disciplines and departments are welcome to attend.

Panelists:

  • Sean Ahearn – Department of Geography and Environmental Science, Hunter College, CUNY
  • Christopher Braun – Associate Provost & Assistant Vice President, Research and Professor of Psychology, Hunter College, CUNY
  • Mehdi Heris – Department of Urban Policy and Planning Geography, Hunter College, CUNY

  • William Solecki – Department of Geography and Environmental Science, Hunter College (CUNY)
