He has written eight novels, including best-selling You Belong to Me, The Havana Room and the international bestseller, Manhattan Nocturne. His books explore the dark side of urban life, particularly New York City, and they have been published in a dozen countries. Four of his novels were selected as Notable Books by the New York Times Book Review. His short nonfiction has appeared in The New York Times, New York Magazine, The Washington Post and The Chicago Tribune.
