Hunter College Black Male Initiative Program

Welcome

Welcome to Brothers for Excellence (BMI) at Hunter College! We’re dedicated to supporting Black and Latino students on their academic journey with scholarships, mentoring, tutoring, and more. Join our community, access resources, and get involved in weekly meetings. All are welcome—let’s thrive together!

Learn More About Us

"The Black Male Initiative aims to create well-rounded brothers, who can proudly face the impediments Black men contend with in society. I am privileged to be a part of this program.”

Donovan L. Ramon

Workshops and Meetings

We organize weekly workshops and meetings designed to strengthen the academic success of our members. These sessions feature distinguished guest speakers and are thoughtfully curated to inspire, motivate, and support student achievement. If you are a member of the Hunter College faculty or staff, or if you are an alumni, you are more than welcome to join the BMI family. You can serve as a mentor, speaker, tutor, or role model. If interested, please contact the BMI Coordinator, Dr. Collin Craig, at (212) 650-3458.
