About the OOA

What We Do

The Office of the Arts connects Hunter College students with transformational arts experiences, both on and off campus, and helps student artists build fulfilling, sustainable careers in the arts.

We’re here to help you:
  • Connect with the arts across NYC, through free and discounted museum tickets, and trips to see Broadway musicals, cutting-edge shows, dance performances, concerts, and more.
  • Meet inspiring guest artists, from Pulitzer winners to exciting young talents, visiting Hunter for residencies and informal Q&As.
  • Make art of all kinds on campus in interdisciplinary projects with other students, regardless of your major.
  • Build a career in the arts through paid internships, observerships, workshops, and individual counseling sessions.

Our Programs

Arts Outings
Four students smile in front of a painting at a museumWe organize outings to cultural institutions across NYC, including Broadway and Off Broadway shows, Metropolitan Opera performances, film screenings, museum exhibits, and more. Experience and discuss  works of art with your fellow Hunter students—and sometimes even the artists themselves.
Artist Encounters
We invite working artists, from world-renowned theater directors to Tony-nominated set designers, to campus to meet students, talk about their work, and share how they built careers in the arts.
Student Artist Meet-Ups
We host regular informal gatherings in our office, where all Hunter students interested in the arts are invited to drop by, meet each other, share snacks, and talk about what they’re making and how we can help.
