Study dance education in the heart of New York City, one of the world’s greatest cultural laboratories!
The Arnhold Graduate Dance Education Program (AGDEP) is designed for ambitious artists and educators looking for challenge, personal growth, and professional advancement. Study in the heart of New York City, one of the world’s greatest cultural laboratories! Our curriculum combines courses in the School of Education and the School of Arts and Sciences Dance Program as well as dance education courses that focus on applying teaching methods to dance classroom environments. In addition to engaging in stimulating and challenging coursework, students are part of a supportive community where academic work is enhanced through workshops, intensives and master classes, performances, and tech seminars.
Launched in Fall 2012, this rapidly expanding program provides all students with an iPad as well as technology training and support through the iDanceEd initiative and the Frankfort Digital Video Library. The AGDEP Salon Series allows students to showcases their creative work in professional performance studios throughout NYC, and a partnership with Hunter’s Muse Scholars Program offers the opportunity to teach specialized dance workshops to undergraduates. Each student in the program is paired with a NYS licensed dance educator/mentor, who provides personalized academic and professional support.
The program offers the following paths to graduate degrees in Dance Education and New York State Pre-K-12 dance teacher certification:
