  • Florida State University (PhD 2008)

Courses

Courses taught have included:

  • CHEM 10000 Essentials of General Chemistry
  • CHEM 10100 Lecture and Lab Inquiry Into the Nature of Matter
  • CHEM 11500 Introductory Chemistry
  • CHEM 10400 General Chemistry II

Research

Research Focus

  • Chemical education

Research Statement

Professor Grant wants to address issues that will give some insight into how student’s attitudes translate into academic outcomes of minorities, which can transform into real solutions to address their low retention rates in STEM majors. In addition to developing models and teaching strategies that increase student learning outcomes, Professor Grant would like to study the effects on such outcomes of specific approaches such as task-centered and peer-interactive instruction, the use of innovative technologies in the classroom, and models that teach student learning strategies.
