General Guidelines: Ability to Benefit
The New York State Ability to Benefit (ATB) regulation applies to all students who are first-time Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) recipients in the 2006-2007 academic year or thereafter.
You must fulfill the New York State Ability to Benefit (ATB) requirement if you have not earned at least one (1) of the following:
- a US high school diploma or a recognized equivalent such as a TASC/GED,
- a Home School Letter from your school district's superintendent,
- a previous College Degree, or
- 24 earned college credits in the core classes as required by the New York State Education Department.
You may fulfill the ATB requirement by taking the appropriate ATB tests and achieving the minimum cut scores as indicated below:
- Score of 55 in ACCUPLACER Comprehensive Reading
- Score of 60 in ACCUPLACER Sentence Skills
