Request for Credit Overload

About Request for Credit Overload

If you would like to exceed the number of maximum credits allowed (Fall/Spring → 17.5 credits, Summer → 7.5credits per session), you will need to request a credit overload. To be considered for a credit overload, you should satisfy the following specific criteria:

  • Have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher at Hunter College
  • Have demonstrated the ability to complete 15 credits or more successfully in prior semesters at Hunter College with a GPA of 3.00 or higher and without receiving grades of F, W, WU, CR or NC
  • Have no pending grades of Incomplete (INC) or Z

In addition, your selection of courses will be considered. For example, semester programs consisting of more than two lab science courses or multiple intensive writing (W) courses may not be approved.

*Credit overloads are usually not accepted for the Winter semesters.

The desire to graduate earlier than planned is not a valid reason and is not a substitute for satisfaction of the above criteria.
