Internships

Photo of the exterior of the Duetsches Dispensary.

Our German majors and minors have interned at the German-American Chamber of Commerce, the Museum of Jewish Heritage, and the Goethe-Institut New York. Some internships have led to part-time and full-time job offers after graduation.

Current Internship Opportunities

Paid Internship at the German Academic Exchange Service!

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is seeking a summer intern to assist the German Academic International Network (GAIN) in hosting the 23rd Annual GAIN Conference. Applicants should be fluent in English with strong German language skills, have an interest in higher education and science policy, enjoy teamwork, and be highly organized and detail-oriented. Applicants must also have a valid US work permit. This internship has the potential to be carried out virtually, at the DAAD New York office, or a combination of the two.

Why Intern?

Matthew ThompkinsTestimonial from German major Matthew Thompkins, who interned at the German American Chamber of Commerce:

In English:  "When I was at the German-American Chamber of Commerce, I made the most important connections of my life. I never thought this internship would be so helpful. Every day I was able to use and improve my German with other interns. My major is German studies, so I really enjoy speaking in German every day because I haven't talked to real Germans in German that often. I had so much fun working. My responsibilities were easy to learn because I had the best teacher in the world (Jessica von Tresckow). Above all, she was the person who taught me everything I needed to do the job well. She also showed me the meaning of being a “young professional”. Jess started at GACC too, and now I see that if I prove myself like she did, I can get a good job too, and GACC is a wonderful place to start."
