Profile
As a proud double alumnus of Hunter College (MS ’03, PMHNP Advanced Certificate ’14), Dr. Raymond Zakhari’s academic and professional journey has come full circle. His extensive clinical practice has spanned over two decades, with diverse experiences from acute care to home care settings. Notably, his service at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell has honed his skills in treating psychiatric conditions across the lifespan, complemented by forensic examination and acute care expertise. The compassion he carries from these roles extends into his academic endeavors, where he has consistently leveraged clinical insights to elevate nursing education by fostering critical thinking, empathy, and ethical decision-making in his students.
Dr. Zakhari’s scholarly pursuits in nursing education have been grounded in the integration of technology, like artificial intelligence, to enhance learning and critical thinking. He has also focused on sexual health within chronic disease states and men’s health. With board certifications in Adult, Family, and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner domains, and a master’s in nursing education, Dr. Zakhari is thrilled to join the HBSON in support of its mission to prepare nurse leaders who provide excellent, empathic care in diverse and under-resourced communities.
