Graduate Academics

The Hunter College Master of Arts in Translation and Interpreting (MATI) program offers a curriculum that includes both a theoretical grounding in translation and interpreting studies, and hands-on language-specific training in translation, localization and oral interpretation skills in Chinese, Russian and Spanish. (The program may serve additional languages on a case-by-case basis. For more information, please contact the program director at jt3361@hunter.cuny.edu.)

Translation and Interpreting - MA

The Masters in Translation and Interpreting is two-year curriculum for full-time students that may be completed within five years on a part-time basis. Language specific courses in translation prepare students to handle a wide range of texts and genres, from literary works, academic papers and press releases, to research reports and financial documents, as well as new media formats, including film, podcasts, websites and blog content. Interpretation courses provide students with practical training in consecutive, conference and community oral interpreting and sight translation, simulating a variety of social service, education and healthcare settings. Coursework also includes foundational studies in machine translation technologies, software localization and terminology management systems.
