Orientation is a full day event that will prepare you to start your journey at Hunter College. Here's an overview of what to expect for the day.
The Hunter Tradition – A welcome from campus leaders where students will learn about how Hunter College traditions have grown into the vibrant and exciting community we know today. You will learn why the Mihi Cura Futuri motto is at the core of Hunter life.
Navigating Campus – Your orientation leaders will walk you through the main campus at Hunter College to ensure you’re all set for your first day. You will get to learn about the Student Union, Hunter Library, athletics, and many more places important to your life as a Hunter Hawk.
Community Standards & Student Conduct – The tradition of the university as a sanctuary of academic freedom and center of informed discussion is an honored one, to be guarded vigilantly. Students will learn about the rules of student conduct on Hunter College campus and how these rules support, and enhance the academic experience. Learn more about Community Standards.
Student Life & Wellness: Financial Well-Being – Learning how to manage your financial well-being while in college is an important life skill. You will have many new expenses including tuition and fees, room and board or housing and food bills, books and supplies, and so on. This session will give you some basics to get started, and it introduces you to resources available at Hunter to help you along the way.
Student Life & Wellness: Student Life Outside of Class – The variety of student-life opportunities at Hunter reflects the interests of our diverse student community. Students will learn the many ways you will make our Hunter community your own and all of the way Hunter is here to help you.
Registration for Classes
- Freshmen will register for classes at orientation.
- Transfer students will complete registration for classes before attending orientation.
Student ID – Students will get their OneCard at the conclusion of the orientation day.
