Freshman Orientation

Freshman Orientation is mandatory for all incoming freshmen. Spring 2024 Freshman Orientation is a one-day event that will take place on Jan 18, 2024, please make sure to mark your calendars and be available at that time.

You will register for classes at orientation and must complete the New Student Guide for Freshmen beforehand.

Your Hunter NetID username and password are required to register for Freshman Orientation.

Transfer Orientation

Transfer Orientation is a one-day event that will take place on January 17/18, 2024. You will be invited to register for Transfer Orientation via email 5-6 business days after completing your class registration for the Spring 2024 semester. Please be sure to check your Hunter email for the invite.

Transfer students must register for classes prior to attending orientation. For help with registration, review the Transfer Advising and Registration Guide.

Orientation Overview

Orientation is a full-day event that will prepare you to start your journey at Hunter College. Here's an overview of what to expect for the day.

The Hunter Tradition – A welcome from campus leaders where students will learn about how Hunter College traditions have grown into the vibrant and exciting community we know today. You will learn why the Mihi Cura Futuri motto is at the core of Hunter student life.

Top Tips for Success at Hunter  – This session will cover all you need to know about your first semester at Hunter. From student life opportunities and club information, financial success tips, and community standards, you will learn how to make your first semester at Hunter a success!

Navigating Campus – Your orientation leaders will walk you through the main campus at Hunter College to ensure you’re all set for your first day. Learn about the Student Union, Hunter Library, Athletics, and other key locations around campus that will help you make the most of your experience as a Hunter Hawk.

Registration for Classes

  • Freshmen will register for classes at orientation.
  • Transfer students must complete registration for classes prior to attending orientation.

Hunter OneCard – Your OneCard is your official student ID card that you will use throughout your time at Hunter College. To receive your OneCard at the conclusion of the orientation day, you must upload your photo at least three (3) days prior to orientation.

Getting to Orientation

Looking for the easiest way?

The best way to ensure an easy commute to the orientation is to take the NYC subway. There is a subway stop named after us that drops you off right at our front door! View Subway Directions

Driving from far away?

Hunter College does not offer any on-campus parking. There are several private parking garages and some pay-by-hour meters in the neighborhood. Learn more here
