Enrollment Next Steps
For New Transfer Students
Once you have accepted your admission offer and committed to Hunter, review and complete the steps below in order to successfully start your journey at Hunter College as a new transfer student.
Within five (5) business days after you have committed to Hunter College and submitted your deposit in CUNYfirst, you will be able to activate your Hunter College email account.
To access your Hunter email, please log-in to Microsoft Office 365 and click on the “Outlook” icon. Your log-in credentials are as follows:
- CUNYfirst username@MyHunter.cuny.edu (first.lastXX@myhunter.cuny.edu)
- Office 365 Password: Your CUNYfirst password
All official College communication will be sent to your Hunter College email address. Make sure to activate your Hunter College O365 email account immediately and make a habit to check it regularly.
Activate Your Hunter Email AccountWithin five (5) business days after you have committed to Hunter College and submitted your deposit in CUNYfirst, you will be sent your Hunter NetID and temporary password. Your NetID will be needed to:
- register for Transfer Orientation
- RSVP for student events
- complete various applications such as declaring a major/minor, late registration, and course repeat requests
- access Hunter's secure WiFi
- access off-campus library resources, computer labs, etc.
Keep an eye out for an email notification with subject line "Your Hunter College NetID." Follow the instructions in the email to activate your Hunter NetID and reset your temporary password.

Guides available for CUNY transfers and non-CUNY transfers. CUNY transfers last attended another CUNY college. Non-CUNY transfers last attended a college outside of CUNY.

Learn How to Register for ClassesAll new incoming students should upload a photo no later than five (5) business days prior to their scheduled orientation date. Once uploaded, your Hunter ID Card, known as your OneCard, will be available for pick up on your orientation day.
How to Submit Your Photo
- Visit https://onecard.hunter.cuny.edu
- Log in using your NetID and password.
- Navigate to the Profile window (located on the gray bar.)
- Open the online photo upload window by selecting Click to submit a new photo.A new browser tab will open to the Online Photo Submission application.
- Here, you may:
- Click the cloud upload icon to open a local folder to select a photo file,
- Drag a photo file to the cloud upload icon for upload, or
- Snap a photo when a camera is available for the browser device.
- Review the photo requirements, terms and conditions, and preview your uploaded photo.
- Crop and adjust your photo to center, if necessary.
- When satisfied with the image preview, click Submit & Sign Out. If not satisfied with the preview, click Edit pencil icon to restart the photo upload process.
Once the photo has been approved, your OneCard will be available for pickup during your orientation day.
Photo Guidelines
- Desired format: JPEG
- Should be cropped slightly above head to middle of chest
- Should be taken against a plain, light background
- Must be a color photo.
- Must not include sunglasses or hat.
- Must be positioned directly facing the camera.
- Eyes should be open and looking at the camera.
- Can not use any Photo Filters.
Transfer Orientation is a one-day event intended for incoming transfer students. Orientation will cover information on available resources, show you around campus, meet your classmates and current Hunter students. Your Hunter NetID username and password are required to register for Transfer Orientation.

More About Transfer OrientationStudents who took courses at a previous college/university semester are required to provide finals grades to Hunter College.
CUNY Students – If you took courses at another CUNY, please do not request official transcripts. CUNY-to-CUNY transcripts will be sent automatically.
Non-CUNY Students – Please request for an official transcript to be sent to the Transfer Credit Evaluations Team at trceval@hunter.cuny.edu directly by your previous college as soon as your final grades are posted.
