Enrollment Next Steps

Beginning mid-March 2023, once you have accepted your admission offer and committed to Hunter, review and complete the steps below in order to successfully enroll at Hunter College as a first-year freshman student.

Within 48 hours of committing to Hunter and paying your commitment deposit, you will be granted access to your official Hunter College student email account.

College students are provided a Microsoft Office 365 (O365) email account in the following format: CUNYfirst username@myhunter.cuny.edu, e.g., jane.smith03@myhunter.cuny.edu. Your email password is your CUNYfirst password. Whenever you change your CUNYfirst password, your email password will change automatically. (Depending on the traffic volume on the CUNYfirst website, you may need to wait briefly for your password to sync up with your CUNYfirst and email account.)

Office 365 login screen

To access your Hunter email, enter your CUNYfirst username followed by @myhunter.cuny.edu at the login screen.

All official College communication will be sent to your Hunter College email address. Make sure to activate your Hunter College O365 email account immediately and make a habit to check it regularly.

Activate Your Hunter Email Account

Within 48 hours of committing to Hunter College and paying your commitment deposit, you will be sent your Hunter NetID credentials. Your NetID will be needed to:

  • register for Freshman Orientation and New Student Convocation
  • RSVP for student events
  • complete various applications such as declaring a major/minor, late registration, and course repeat requests
  • access Hunter's secure WiFi
  • access off-campus library resources, computer labs, etc.

To activate your Hunter NetID, follow the instructions in the email notification to log into your NetID account and reset your password.

More About the Hunter NetID

Prior to registering for classes, all students are required to submit MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunization records and the Meningococcal Meningitis Vaccination Response Form.

For instructions on how to submit your immunization records, visit the Immunization Records website.

Go to the Immunization Records Website

CUNY mandates that all students taking in-person and hybrid classes be fully vaccinated unless they have been granted a religious exception or medical exemption to the vaccine. All students taking in-person or hybrid classes must upload proof of their status to CUNYfirst so it can be approved by the start of classes. For additional guidelines and instructions on how to submit your COVID-19 vaccination verification, see the Student Guide to Vaccination Verification.
