Commencement

All graduates who plan to participate in Commencement should arrive at the Dean Street Entrance to Barclays at 1:30pm with your regalia and Hunter College Student ID which is location #3 on the map below. Guests should arrive at the Main Atrium Barclays Entrance which is Location #1 on the map below.

Barclays Center management is dedicated to providing an exciting and memorable guest experience while ensuring the safety and security of all guests. Please review the policies/rules for attending any Barclays Center event at https://www.barclayscenter.com/center-info/a-z-guide.These policies apply to everyone entering Barclays including guests and graduates.

For safety, security, and visibility, students and guests will not be admitted with weapons of any kind; bags larger than 14”x14”x6” or that are hard-sided; illegal drugs/substances; alcohol; signs, posters, or garments with offensive language, phrasing, or symbols; balloons, beach balls, and other inflatables; unapproved pamphlets, handouts, etc.; or noisemakers, air horns, bells, bull horns, whistles, etc. For an additional list of prohibited items click here. Please review this list prior to the ceremony to ensure no personal items get confiscated.

The cut and color of robes are determined by the specific degree received by each individual and should not be altered or modified to reflect personal taste, style, or interests. As per Barclays’ policies and rules, signs, flags, balloons, and banners will not be allowed through any entrances.

Children are welcome to the ceremony but are not allowed to sit in the student seating area or to walk across the stage. Therefore, they will not be permitted through the designated student entrance. Please arrange seating accommodations for children in advance. Children under 2 years old do not require a ticket and must be seated on the guest’s lap throughout the ceremony.

The Barclays Center provides accessible seating for guests. However, accessible seating is available only within specific sections, slightly separated from the other seating within the sections. To sit in close proximity to friends and family seated in the accessible sections, it is suggested that guests arrive early. Upon arrival, guests in need of accessible seating should ask any member of the Barclays Guest Services team for assistance with accessible seating.

Barclays Center has a no re-entry policy. If you or a guest leave the building before the end of the ceremony, you will not be permitted to re-enter.

Commencement is both a joyous and solemn event. Please express your excitement in ways that will not prevent others from hearing the speaker and enjoying the ceremony. Please note: all provisions of the Henderson Rules and Regulations for the Maintenance of Public Order and Article XV of the CUNY Bylaws apply to Commencement ceremonies.
