Master of Science (MS) in Biomedical Laboratory Management

Students must obtain 30 credits to complete the Master of Science (MS) in Biomedical Laboratory Management degree.

In any given semester, students take classes at Hunter College, CUNY School of Professional Studies (SPS) or both. Courses are in traditional format, with extensive use of Blackboard educational software. Emphasis is on real world problems and case studies, including group projects that reflect the diverse expertise of your classmates. Your basic and molecular science background, as well as your experience in the workplace will influence class content. Classes are scheduled on weekday evenings.

You must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for admission. Meeting these minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance to the program.

• Baccalaureate (BS/BA) in clinical lab science, biology, chemistry or a related discipline, with gpa of at least 3.0/4.0.
• Course (or equivalent experience) in Molecular Biology (pre- or co-requisite)
• Minimum 1 year of bench experience employed in a biomedical laboratory.
• Two references, one from current employer/supervisor. Employer letter may indicate willingness to provide guidance to the candidate for the management practicum.
• Statement of purpose (500 words) including the aspects of your background that bring you to apply, and your goals in laboratory management.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $120,000

Medical Laboratory Directors assume overall responsibility for the management and operation of a medical laboratory, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and quality standards.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $140,000

Quality Assurance Managers implement and manage quality assurance programs within biomedical laboratories, ensuring that processes and results meet regulatory standards.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000
