MS in Applied Digital Sociology

Program Overview

The program is designed for individuals with a background in the social sciences who wish to pursue a career in research and related areas, as well as for those who wish to upgrade their research skills.

Master of Science (MS) in Applied Digital Sociology

Students must complete 30 credits.

The accelerated degree sequence permits Hunter College sociology majors in excellent academic standing to obtain both the BA and the MS degree in five years rather than the customary six years (4 years for the BA and 2 years for the MS) with significant savings in tuition.

You must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for admission. Meeting these minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance to the program.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0
  • At least 3 credits in statistics, 3 credits in research methods 3 credits in sociological theory,  are required.
  • Two letters of recommendation from appropriate academic or professional references
  • A statement of purpose of approximately 500 words or fewer

Students Educated Outside the US

Applicants whose native language is not English and who have taken all or part of their undergraduate education in a country where English is not the native language are required to submit scores on the Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The following minimum scores must be obtained:

  • TOEFL iBT: 80/ Paper Based Test: 550/ Computer Based Test: 213
  • IELTS: 6.5 Overall Band Score
