The Language Flagship
Through an innovative collaboration among federal government agencies, educational institutions, and businesses, the Language Flagship prepares undergraduate and graduate students in all fields to take their place among the next generation of global professionals, commanding a superior level of fluency in one of many languages critical to U.S. competitiveness and security. Currently funded programs are in Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, and Turkish.
The Language Flagship Program
The Language Flagship Program is comprised of both domestic and overseas study. Hunter College is one of eight universities that offer domestic Chinese Flagship Programs. The other institutions are Arizona State University, Indiana University, University of Minnesota, University of Mississippi, University of Rhode Island, University of North Georgia, and Western Kentucky University.
The Chinese Flagship Program at Hunter College
The Chinese Flagship Program at Hunter College, City University of New York is a rigorous undergraduate program of study in Mandarin Chinese language and culture that aims to enable highly-motivated undergraduate students of all majors to achieve a superior level of proficiency in Chinese. The program welcomes applications from current Hunter College students, high school seniors who have been admitted to Hunter College or Macaulay Honors College at Hunter, and undergraduates from all majors and at all levels of proficiency in Chinese who seek to achieve a professional level of competence.
