Dr. Dugan's research focuses on the impact of inter-parental conflict on parenting practices and communication, related research to the quality of parenting and subsequent development of adolescents and children.

Profile

Dawn Dugan received her BS in Psychology from NYU and her PHD in Clinical/School Psychology from Hofstra University. She joins Hunter as a Lecturer within the Psychology Department, having recently served as adjunct faculty at Hofstra University, and a visiting professor at the College of SUNY Westbury.

Dr. Dugan has 9 years of teaching experience, having taught a broad range of courses in the areas of clinical/developmental/community Psychology.  She has shown an exceptional commitment to service, contributing to several campus initiatives related to women’s issues.

  • PhD in Clinical Psychology, Hofstra University
  • BS in Psychology, New York University

Areas of Research

Dr. Dugan’s research interests focus on the impact of interparental conflict on parenting practices and communication, related research to the quality of parenting and subsequent development of adolescents and children. Her clinical interests include: Cognitive and behavioral treatments of anxiety and depression; Intervention techniques for adolescents and treatment of anxiety and stress in mothers of young children and adolescents.
