Allia Abdullah-Matta is a poet, Professor of English at CUNY LaGuardia, and Adjunct Professor of Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies at Hunter College. She holds a doctorate in African-American Studies, Certificates in Advanced Feminist Studies, and African Diaspora Studies from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and an MFA from the City College of New York. Her research centers literatures and cultures of Africa and the African Diaspora, poetic, theoretical, artistic production(s), and visual culture. She writes about the culture, and history of Black women and explores the presence of Black bodies and voices in fine art and poetry. She has published critical essays and poetry.
