Kenneth McLaughlin is an associate professor in the Department of Economics.

Profile

Assistant Professor Dr. Kenneth McLaughlin teaches Principles of Microeconomics, Women & Men in the Labor Market, and Data Analytics and Research Methods. He also directs the Economics Tutoring Center at Hunter College.

Before joining Hunter’s economics department in the fall of 1994, Dr. McLaughlin was an assistant professor of economics at the University of Rochester.  He has also served as a visiting professor at the University of Chicago (Economics Department and Booth School of Business), Columbia University and the University of Michigan.

Dr. McLaughlin holds a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago. He is the author of several journal articles and an undergraduate textbook in labor economics entitled, Labor Economics: Principles in Practice, 2nd ed. (Oxford University Press, 2019). His current research involves estimating the effects of minimum wages on employment. His earlier research concentrated on job turnover, wage rigidity and inter-industry mobility.
