Profile
P.B. Hope (they/them) is a PhD Candidate at Stanford University teaching classes in Feminist Philosophy, Critical Race Theory, and Women & Gender Studies at Hunter College. Their research works to sharpen our understanding of what structural injustice is (ontology), how we can respond to it (politics), and who bears the responsibility for doing so (normative theory). In particular, Hope focuses on racialized and gendered injustices as they are reproduced through our understanding and shaping of social space. As a transgender and disabled academic, they confront the spatiality of social structures regularly in their day-to-day life. These encounters have led Hope to prioritize lived experience and empirical evidence in their philosophical work.
