Professor Stephanie Bonvissuto is a PhD graduate from the Dept. of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Stony Brook University in NY, where she taught WGSS classes since 2018. Her fields of study include Women’s Studies and Trans/Queer Studies, as well as the Sociology of Gender, Sexuality, and Space. Her research focuses on gender and sexual identity development in context of politics, pop culture, and social spaces. She has published single and co-authored work in Sociological Focus, Creativity Studies, as well as the upcoming titles Male Femininities (NYU Press 2022) and Mapping LGBTQ Spaces and Places – A Changing World (Spring Nature 2022). Outside of the classroom, she has served as a sitting board member and volunteer peer group facilitator for an East Coast LGBTQ community center (2005-2009) and as the student coordinator of the Queer Student Center at the University of Massachusetts Boston (2010-1013). Currently she teaches courses through the Deptartment of Women’s and Gender Studies at Hunter College, NYC.
