Shacon Jones II is an artist-scholar-activist and adjunct lecturer in the Women and Gender Studies Department at Hunter College. His research interests lie mainly in Black studies, performances of masculinities, aesthetics of risk, radical pleasure, dance studies and choreographies of citizenship, and technologies of remembrance. He holds an MA in Education from Stanford Graduate School of Education, an MFA in Theatre Management and Producing from Columbia University, and a BA in English and Dance from Morehouse College. Currently, he is completing a PhD in Performance Studies at Stanford University. Outside of research and teaching, Shacon is involved in foster care advocacy, and is pursuing certification as an intimacy consultant for live performance and TV/film.
