On behalf of the faculty, staff and students in the Department of Physical Therapy at Hunter College, I hope you and your family are well.
Physical therapy is indeed a wonderful profession, offering us an opportunity to care for others from birth to old age, neurological rehabilitation to sports physical therapy, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, vestibular rehabilitation, burn rehabilitation, pelvic floor health and so much more. At Hunter College’s DPT program, students are exposed to all aspects of the profession through a dedicated and enthusiastic faculty that represents the breadth of the profession. While we are all experienced and passionate teachers, we are physical therapists first. Our passion and continued direct involvement in clinical work feeds our work in the classroom. A team of strong researchers, committed to furthering the profession’s body of knowledge, the faculty is also dedicated to introducing students to all aspects of the research process through a capstone project that spans the 3-year curriculum culminating in a publishable paper or presentation. Our students graduate as strong generalist clinicians able to use effective clinical reasoning to develop an effective treatment plan for their patients, ready to “Transform(ing) society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience” (Physical Therapy Vision). Thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in our profession and our program. We look forward to meeting you at an information session and to getting to know you along the path of your pursuit of a career in physical therapy.
Stay safe & well,
