Instructions
All applicants to the Physical Therapy Program at Hunter College are required to have had practical experience in a physical therapy department or clinic in order to be considered for admission. Your participation in a Physical Therapy clinical experience can be on a paid or voluntary basis. A minimum of 100 hours of clinical exposure is required, in at least TWO different settings, under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. At least 50 of these hours MUST be in an in-patient setting.
This required exposure to the physical therapy profession is intended to provide you an opportunity to learn about the profession and to experience time engaged in the work of a physical therapist so you may best decide if this is the career choice for you.
A Clinical Experience Form must be completed by the supervising physical therapist for each of your clinical experiences. The form must be emailed by the supervising physical therapist directly to Mrs. Maureen Brennan, Department Secretary, at gradpt@hunter.cuny.edu.
*Please note that this is the ONLY part of the application process that gets submitted directly to the Department of Physical Therapy.
Make sure to complete the top portion of the form with your name and address, and sign the disclaimer, BEFORE providing the form to the physical therapist who will complete and submit it.
The deadline for receipt of all Clinical Experience Forms is November 1st.
