Brian Buckwald serves as the Assistant Dean for Student Achievement at Hunter College, where he focuses on advancing degree completion and enhancing student outcomes. With over two decades of experience in higher education, Assistant Dean Buckwald combines deep expertise in academic advising and student affairs with data analytics and systems thinking to support diverse student populations and reduce time to degree.
With over a decade of experience at Hunter, he oversees the Navigate360 implementation and coordinated student support systems, helping students receive the help they need to succeed. Assistant Dean Buckwald also leads key initiatives in enrollment management, departmental advising, and improving course success rates. As a first-generation student and advocate for students, Assistant Dean Buckwald works closely with the faculty and is committed to continuously refining the systems and academic experience at Hunter College to best serve its students.
He is a longtime member of NACADA, where he has served in several elected and appointed leadership roles and has presented or been invited to speak at numerous conferences. He is a graduate of Kansas State University and Georgia State University.
