Our education and outreach effort focuses on supporting more sustainability coursework with continuing education, promoting speaking engagements and workshops with environmental experts and leaders, and encouraging the integration of sustainability issues into orientation events and promotions.
Hunter College’s Baker Building, located at 151 East 67th Street, between Lexington and Third Avenues, is now fully open to students, faculty, and staff, with no further restrictions. All classes will be held as scheduled.
Sustainable Education and Outreach
Actions and Activities
Co-organized each fall with The Institute of Sustainable Cities at Hunter College, the Hunter College Eco-Fair introduces the community to student-led campus sustainability efforts and raises awareness of The Green Initiative Fund at Hunter College (TGIF) which helps students pursue their own sustainability projects on campus.
The fair features targeted poster displays and giveaways, informational tabling by green student clubs, and presentations by students who have pursued sustainability projects in prior years. The fair also invites speakers from New York City agencies, who are more broadly recognized and utilized by students, to present their work and connect students with resources and opportunities on campus and in their communities.
Held by the Hunter Sustainability Project every spring in celebration of Earth Day, the week-long event engages Hunter students in games, giveaways and displays of student and faculty work on issues related to the environment. Each day of the celebration has a different theme including food day, energy day, resource management day, biodiversity day and home and lifestyle day.
