In compliance with the Clery Act, Hunter College regularly disseminates information to all employees and students that includes campus crime statistics, public safety policy statements and details about efforts taken to improve campus safety.

Jeanne Clery Act Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (20 USC § 1092(f)) is the landmark federal law, originally known as the Campus Security Act, that requires colleges and universities across the United States to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses. Crime Statistics reported to the College of Staten Island can be viewed on the U.S. Department of Education Campus Safety and Security website.

Hunter College aims to provide complete transparency around campus crime policy and statistics by making sure all crimes that are reported to the Hunter College Office of Public Safety are annotated in the Public Safety Crime Log.

Fire Log

Hunter College maintains a written fire log that reports the date and time of any fire, the nature of the fire, and the general location of any fire that occurs in our on-campus student housing facility.

Hate Crime Log

Hunter College records and maintains a log of hate crimes that have occurred on campus grounds which have been investigated by NYPD and deemed to be hate crimes.

Bias Incident Log

Hunter College also records and maintains a log of bias incidents that have occurred on campus grounds. These incidents include those that are under investigation by NYPD as to its hate crime classification, have been investigated and deemed not to be a hate crime by NYPD, or do not have an underlying crime.

Hazing Incident Log

Hunter College maintains a log of hazing incidents that have been reported to the college and investigated. This log will also include the Campus Hazing Transparency Reports which will be published biannually.

Security and Fire Safety Report

Hunter College's Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics about reported crimes compiled from campus incident reports, reports from designated security authorities and from the local NYPD precincts. Additionally, the report includes institutional policies concerning campus security, alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, emergency and evacuation procedures and more. Each year by early October, a newly updated report is published on the college website and a notification to all Hunter College students, faculty and staff will be disseminated.
