SEEK Eligibility Process Overview

Welcome prospective SEEK students. The Percy Ellis Sutton SEEK Program (Search for Education, Elevation and Knowledge), is a higher education opportunity program that provides academic and financial support to students who qualify. Learn how you can become a part of the SEEK program at Hunter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Prospective students indicate that they wish to be considered for the SEEK program on their CUNY admission application.

However, you will not receive an admission decision from Hunter College until you submit all required documents of eligibility.

  • Student must be a legal resident of New York State for at least one year prior to entering college
  • Student must be a high school graduate or recipient of a New York State approved General Equivalency Diploma or its equivalent
  • Student must be a first-time freshman or previously enrolled in a Higher Education Opportunity Program, such as College Discovery (CD), the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), or the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).
  • Student must be inadmissible according to the freshman admissions criteria established by Hunter College.
  • Student must have a gross family income that meets the New York State guidelines

* For the 2022-23 incoming class, the 2021 income poverty guidelines are to be used with the 2020 tax information (prior-prior) when selecting eligible students.

**For family units with more than eight members, add the following amount for each additional family member: $8,399.

What is Student Forms?
StudentForms is our new student tool that allows students (and parents) to electronically sign and upload documents that are required for financial eligibility verification.

Log into Student Forms

Students selected for SEEK program must submit all of the documents via Student Forms for economic eligibility verification. If you are deemed economically eligible for the program, you will be invited for an interview with the SEEK program. Admissions decision will be available 3-4 weeks after your SEEK interview.

Please log into Student Forms to see your list of required documents under assigned tasks, and ensure that all of your tasks are complete.

Congratulations!

All students admitted to SEEK must do the following:

  • Accept the offer of admission in CUNYfirst by May 1
  • Attend a “Welcome to SEEK” event – check your email for RSVP info in May
  • Complete a 4-Week Summer Bridge Program – check your email for RVSP info in May
  • Upload proof of COVID vaccination — at least 1 week before the start of the Summer Bridge Program – check your email for instructions
