His previous research included different areas of radiochemistry, nuclear chemistry and nuclear toxicology. He is also very experienced in inorganic materials synthesis, organic chelation chemistry development, radiopharmaceutical and environmental remediation.

Educational Background

  • 2015 National Certification for being Lecturer-Researcher of University in industrial, mineral and organic synthesis chemistry (French CNU 32)
  • 2015 National Certification for being Lecturer-Researcher of University in theoretical, physical and analytical chemistry (French CNU 31)
  • 2013 Ph.D. in Radiochemistry at the University of Nantes, Ecole des Mines de Nantes, Subatech laboratory, France.

Courses

Courses taught have included:

  • CHEM-38855 Radiochemistry
  • CHEM-22500 Organic Chemistry
  • CHEM-10600 General Chemistry
  • CHEM-29100 Chemical Investigations
  • CHEM-49100 Chemical Investigations

Research

Currently, Dr. Younes is involving in different research projects. His research is particularly focusing upon:1) the development and synthesis of decorporating agents (Chelation therapy) towards a new therapy for human in case of nuclear contamination, 2) understanding the mechanism of biodistribution and accumulation of highly toxic radioactive metals in human target organs upon internal injection or contamination, 3) production and processing of radionuclides for medical and fundamental applications, 4) development and evaluation of non-conventional materials for radionuclides separation, nuclear wastes remediation and medical isotope generators. In addition, as a Radiation Safety officer at Hunter College, he is leading the Radiation Safety program at Hunter College of the City University of New York.
