Learn about the history of antisemitism and how to combat it in a series of stimulating seminars that culminate in a free trip to Washington DC to visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

We are seeking students from a broad range of majors. It is not necessary to have any background in Jewish Studies or the history of antisemitism to become a member of the prestigious “Cooper Fellows.”

The application process is easy! Just a short statement about who you are and why you want to be part of the Cooper Fellowship program.

For those selected:

  • Participation in three workshops at Hunter (with lunches served) on the history of antisemitism. The workshops will be in the Spring Semester 2023 on Wednesdays from 1-3pm. At the end of the program, students will complete a group project on fighting hatred. The dates for the workshops are:
    • Feb 1, 2023
    • Feb 8, 2023
    • March 1, 2023
    • March 15, 2023
  • Free, all-expense paid trip to Washington DC that includes:
    • A night at a local hotel and all meals
    • Guided tour of the Holocaust Museum
    • Tour of Washington DC
    • A wonderful opportunity (that you can put on your resume)!
  • If permitted under the CUNY COVID Travel Policy in effect, the group will travel to Washington, DC February 19-20, 2023. Alternatively, we will visit museums and do tours in NYC.

Deadline: Applications will close on December 10, 2022. Students will be notified if they have been selected by January 1, 2023.

Applications for 2022/2023 Cooper Fellows are now closed. New applications will open on September 1, 2023.

Application Instructions

Students may apply for prizes and financial assistance online using the form below, or leave a hard copy of their application (including all of the information below) in the mailbox outside of Hunter West, Room 1328.

Deadline: All applications must be received by  April 1, 2023. Decisions will be made by May 1, 2023.
