Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU)

Open to qualifying CS students of all ethnic backgrounds, HACU has announced a program of paid internships, scholarships and opportunities for study abroad for the current academic year.

Internships may be with a US Federal agency or private corporation (earning trainees a salary of $450-$500 weekly during the duration of the internship; HACU pays any travel costs and offers assistance in securing lodging during the internship). Scholarships range from $1,000-$2,800 per academic year, and study abroad possibilities exist in conjunction with Richmond, the American International University in London. The Computer Science Department offers academic course credit for “outside internships” in practical aspects of computing, e.g., systems programming, biomedical computing, computer-aided instruction. Students wishing to register for an internship (listed as CSCI 181; CSCI 182 and CSCI 183, and varying in credits from one to three) MUST BE declared computer science majors with at least 18 credits completed in the department. Credits can be used toward Hunter General Elective requirements, but cannot be used toward the computer science major.
