WE'RE HERE TO HELP

If you need help finding your way around campus, locating a specific office or department, or getting a pass to enter one of Hunter's buildings, our Visitor Center associates and public safety officers can assist you.

Visiting Hunter

The Visitor's Center is committed to providing excellent customer service to the Hunter College community and their guests, and ensure a positive and welcoming atmosphere. We fulfill our mission by assisting the Office of Public Safety in offering a sense of security to faculty, staff and students by furnishing a safe environment for the entire college population.

Request for vendor services or visitors should be sent to the Visitor’s Center (visitors@hunter.cuny.edu) at least 48 hours prior to arriving on campus. Please provide names and email addresses of each visitor.

Prospective undergraduate students, applicants, and parents looking to schedule a campus tour or an appointment with admissions should visit the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

In order to gain access to any Hunter campus, you must have a valid OneCard.

Your OneCard is your Hunter College photo ID. In addition to providing you access to all of Hunter's buildings, it allows you to print, make copies, use vending machines, make purchases in the cafeteria and pay library late fees, among other things. It is an essential tool for navigating your time at Hunter.

Please note that parents or guardians who are escorting their child to the Children's Learning Center do not need to obtain a day pass for their child. However, the parent/guardian does need to have a valid OneCard or day pass to enter the North Building.

To obtain a new OneCard, or to replace a lost or stolen card, visit the OneCard office in room 203 in the West Building of Hunter's 68th Street Campus. For contact information and office hours visit the OneCard website.

When visiting the campus, you must first obtain a visitor’s pass from the Visitor's Center by simply showing a valid photo ID to a Visitor's Center associate. All associates are recognizable by their purple vests, and are available to help you navigate the individual campuses and direct you to the appropriate destination.

If you are a staff or faculty member and expecting a guest, it will speed up the process if you give the Visitor's Center advance notice that you are expecting someone. At least 48 hours prior to the visit, please fill out the Visitor's Center Request Form or send an email to visitors@hunter.cuny.edu.

Prospective undergraduate students, applicants, and parents looking to schedule a campus tour or an appointment with admissions should visit the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

In an effort to keep Hunter College safe and secure and to identify all persons entering the college, effective February 11, 2019, anyone who presents a CUNY ID card from any CUNY college for reciprocal permission to enter any Hunter campus is to be directed to the Visitor's Center of that campus.

The associate on duty will ensure the card is valid, with an up-to-date semester sticker in accordance with the respective college's policy. The associate will then enter the CUNY ID holder into the system and print a pass for the day. If a campus does not have an associate on duty, a uniformed member of the Office of Public Safety will ensure the information is entered into the blotter for that campus. The CUNY ID holder will be allowed access to the libraries by presenting their CUNY ID to the officer on duty at the library entrance and the officer will allow access.

Any CUNY ID holder who requires routine access to Hunter (adjunct, CA, etc.) should request a Hunter OneCard via the supervisor for the department for which they work. The supervisor should send an email requesting a Hunter OneCard for the individual in accordance with the established policy. E-Permit students can also obtain a Hunter ID directly through the OneCard office.

The following guidelines for holding special events on campus apply to both internal events and those co-sponsored by a third-party.

Campus access procedures require that all members of the Hunter College community carry their college-issued ID at all times.

All guests are required to register their campus visitation at the Visitor's Center at the respective visiting campus. Guests will be given a visitor’s pass by presenting a valid ID and reason for visit.

For special events on campus, please fill out the Visitor's Center Request Form at least 24 hours prior to your event.

If names are not known, inform the Visitor's Center of the event in advance, including an approximate number of attendees. In your communication to guests, please make sure you stress the importance of checking in at the Visitor's Center.

We urge all special events on campus to require either advance ticketing or RSVP confirmation. Any tickets or RSVP confirmation should be presented at the Visitor's Center along with valid ID in order to obtain a visitors pass.

All events require the appropriate administrative approvals:

  • If the sponsored event is for the sole benefit of the department, program or Hunter College, only the approval of the department chairperson or the program director is required.
  • If the event is co-sponsored with a non-Hunter organization or open to the general public, approval must be given by the department chair or program director and dean of the school the department falls under.
  • College facilities cannot be reserved by a Hunter College organization and then "turned over" to an outside group. Hunter faculty/staff assume full responsibility for coordinating and attending any Hunter sponsored or co-sponsored event.

Prospective undergraduate students, applicants, and parents looking to schedule a campus tour or an appointment with admissions should visit the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
