What's The Hunter Gatherer?

The Hunter Gatherer is a bi-weekly newsletter curated from staff-submitted announcements about events and opportunities for the student body. All currently enrolled students are provided The Hunter Gatherer newsletter at their Hunter email address.

Publication and Submission Schedule

During the fall and spring semesters, The Hunter Gatherer is published every other Monday. This schedule may vary depending on events at the College.

Submission Guidelines

College offices and departments that work with students may submit for publication any announcement, event, deadline, or opportunity that is open to the Hunter College student body.

Please review all of the Submission Guidelines below before submitting to The Hunter Gatherer.

Your submission to The Hunter Gatherer:

  • must be an announcement, event, deadline, or opportunity that is open to the current Hunter College student body, including both undergrads and graduate students.
  • must be submitted at least one week before your desired publication date, and preferably at least 10 days before your event date or deadline.
  • can only be submitted once per semester for each announcement

For clarity and brevity, we will edit your announcement to a headline, a brief description, and a link to more detailed information. Therefore, your submission must include a link to more detailed information. Acceptable links include an official Hunter College webpage, a Hunter College Events Calendar entry, a Hunter-branded official form or survey, or an official CUNY webpage.


The following items will not be published:

  • Links to Facebook, Twitter, or other social media sites
  • Promotion of specific courses offered by an academic department
  • Job postings or research-study recruitment (contact the Office of Career Development Services to promote these)
  • Promotion of a student club, or student club event, unless sponsored by the Office of Student Activities or another official College department
  • Information about events and opportunities that are intended only for prospective students and/or alumni
  • Postings that promote activities, goods and/or services offered by an individual, outside agency or vendor, or corporate sponsorship

How to Submit Your Entry

  1. Your content is due on Monday at noon, one week before the publication date. When a holiday is observed on a Monday, the deadline will be Tuesday. See the Publication Schedule, above.
  2. Submit your content via our Communication Service Request form.
  3. Under “Types of Communication,” check the box for “Hunter Gatherer Entry.”
  4. Provide details for your entry in the text box or upload a word document. Be sure to provide all relevant details and a working link to a web page with more information, or an online application.
  5. Submit the form to complete your request. You will be emailed a receipt.
