After You are Admitted

Congratulations on your admission to Hunter! Follow the steps below to accept your offer and commit to the College.

If you deferred your admission from a prior semester, you may skip ahead to Enrollment Next Steps.

To accept your offer of admission to Hunter College, log into your CUNYfirst account and click on the tile labeled Admissions Center > View my Application Status > I Accept.

All accepted students are required to submit a non-refundable $100 commitment deposit which will be applied to your first semester of tuition charges. The commitment deposit reserves your seat and enables you to confirm enrollment at Hunter College. To pay your commitment deposit, log into your CUNYfirst account.

Some students will have the commitment deposit waived automatically upon accepting the offer of admission, including:

  • Students who filed a FAFSA with an Student Aid Index (SAI) less than or equal to $2,950
  • Veteran students

For students who are admitted after the deadline, the commitment deposit is due two (2) weeks after the date you were sent your admission notification email.

Next Steps for Enrollment

For General Freshmen

Once you have accepted your admission offer and committed to Hunter, review and complete the steps below in order to successfully start your journey at Hunter College as a first-year freshman student.

The New Student Module is the first step to success for all new students. This required module helps you prepare for in-person orientation by providing essential information about academics, policies, and support services.

This event is an in-person experience and is required. Please review the orientation website for more details and note the required orientation dates:

  • August 6 – Orientation for Freshmen Admitted to Pre-Nursing Track
  • August 11, 13, 18 – Orientation for Freshmen interested in STEM Majors
  • August 20 – Orientation for Freshmen interested in Social Sciences & Humanities 
  • August 25 – International Student Orientation (Students on F-1/J-1 student visa only) 

Orientation registration coming in March.

All new students are required to submit immunization records to begin their journey at Hunter College. Please complete the following:

  1. Submit your MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunization records. Please follow instructions here.
  2. Submit your Meningococcal Meningitis Acknowledgement. Please follow instructions for CUNYfirst here.

Within five (5) business days after you have committed to Hunter College and submitted your deposit in CUNYfirst, you will be able to activate your Hunter College email account.

To access your Hunter email, please log-in to Microsoft Office 365 and click on the “Outlook” icon. Your log-in credentials are as follows:

  • CUNYfirst username@MyHunter.cuny.edu (first.lastXX@myhunter.cuny.edu)
  • Office 365 Password: Your CUNYfirst password

To access your Hunter email, enter your CUNYfirst username followed by @myhunter.cuny.edu at the login screen.

All official College communication will be sent to your Hunter College email address. Make sure to activate your Hunter College O365 email account immediately and make a habit to check it regularly.

International Students

The F-1 Visa is a non-immigrant student visa issued for individuals who wish to study in the United States. Before applying for an F-1 Visa, you must first obtain a SEVIS I-20 from the International Students Office. Review the required documents to apply for a SEVIS I-20 and follow the outlined steps to complete your F-1 Visa application process.

Prepare to Attend Hunter

Freshman Orientation

All new first-year students at Hunter College are required to attend one Freshman Orientation session. You must register to secure your spot. Please check orientation website for more details. Required Freshman Orientation Dates:

  • Aug 6 – Orientation for Freshmen Admitted to Pre-Nursing Track
  • Aug 11, 13, 18 – Orientation for Freshmen interested in STEM Majors
