About

INTERNSHIPS AND MENTORING

The Mellon Arts Fellows Program is a professional development initiative for talented undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds interested in pursuing careers in the arts and arts management.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

The Mellon Arts Fellowship Program recruits talented Hunter students in their junior year, supporting them with paid internships in non-profit arts institutions along with a robust range of pre-professional mentoring and guidance, including graduate school advisement and preparation, networking opportunities and introductions to arts leaders.

Once accepted, fellows participate in full-time internships (35 hours/week) at arts organizations during the summer after their junior year. They will be supported by a stipend of $5,600 for their 10-week internship period. Hunter Mellon Arts fellows will also receive extensive professional development training, monthly workshops with leaders in the arts, invitations to arts events and performances (both live and remote), as well as support for applying for graduate study.

WHY THE MELLON ARTS FELLOWSHIP?

"Internships offer students an opportunity to engage deeply with institutions through meaningful work, to develop career-related skills and competencies and to develop relationships with mentors.”

Rachel Himes, Former Asst. Museum Educator, The Frick Collection
