  • Summer Programmes
  • Practical Matters: Visa, Housing, Insurance, Transport
To Apply
  1. Check that you meet the eligibility requirements for both Hunter and your chosen program.
  2. Submit the Hunter Online Application, selecting "University of Amsterdam SUMMER: Netherlands" as the "Name of Program."
  3. Have the following documents prepared to upload with your Hunter online application:
    • Personal statement (250-500 words) describing: How will study abroad contribute to your academic or professional goals and how will you engage with the local community abroad? You may use the same statement you plan to submit for your program application.
    • A copy of your transcript (can be unofficial and pulled from CUNYfirst as long as your name is printed on it).
    • Scan of the photo page of your passport. We require a copy of your valid passport before you go abroad. If you are in the process of applying for or renewing your passport, you may submit the Online Application Form without this; however, you must be prepared to email a scan of your new passport as soon as you receive it.
  4. Course Approval Form: To ensure that prospective applicants can receive credit at Hunter College, students who wish to attend this program must complete this form as part of the application process. Submit your Course Approval Form to the Office of Education Abroad during office hours:
    • Step 1: Visit department advisor(s) for course equivalency approval. If you have options to take more than one course OR you are considering different summer programs at the UvA, we highly suggest getting additional/backup course choices approved.
    • Step 2: Visit your assigned advisor (or MHC or SEEK). Your assigned advisor must indicate whether the equivalent course(s) fit in your degree plan and signs the course equivalency form.
    • Step 3: Make a copy of your course equivalency form(s) for yourself and submit the original paper course equivalency form(s) to the Office of Education Abroad.
  5. After receiving approval from the Office of Education Abroad, submit your program application to the UvA.

Approved applicants will be required to submit all other required paperwork for Affiliated Programs by the listed deadlines.

Prerequisite

Applicants must also fulfill Hunter's general eligibility requirements along with any program-specific prerequisites or requirements.

Insurance

All students participating in this program are required to enroll in the CUNY comprehensive travel insurance policy through Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI).

  • Visit the CISI Health Insurance site to learn more
  • Approved students will receive the appropriate code to self-enroll.
Credits & Grades

Students will only receive credits if their converted grade is "C" or above. Letter grades for this program will appear on the transcript, but will not count towards the Hunter GPA. If grades convert to below C (C- to F), they will appear on the transcript as F.
