Equivalent Courses
Hunter College evaluates ePermit course equivalency using CUNY Transfer Rules. Visit the Transfer Explorer (T-REX) webpage to check equivalencies.
EPERMITS WITH INVALID COURSE EQUIVALENCY WILL BE DENIED.
CUNY to CUNY by Subject - How courses transfer to and from other colleges.
For ePermit purposes:
- "Transferring From": The college(s) where you will take the courses (host college).
- "Transferring To": The college where the credits will be transferred (home college). Hunter students must select 'Hunter College' for this option.
CUNY to CUNY by Course - Knowing the home school course but NOT the host school course or vice versa.
For ePermit purposes:
For example, when you know the name of the home (Hunter) course (finding the host school Equivalent).
CUNY College → Hunter College | Subject → SOC – Sociology | Catalog Number → SOC 1000 – Intro to Sociology. | ***course transfers FROM every other college | → click Submit
For example, when you know the name of the other (host) college’s course (finding the home school Equivalent).
CUNY College → BMCC | Subject → BIO – Biology | Catalog Number → BIO 210: Biology I | course transfers TO every other college | → click Submit
Students are strongly encouraged to research course equivalency to confirm if an equivalent course exists. Next, check course availability to ensure the course is being offered at the host college during your intended enrollment term or session (during the summer).
Use Schedule Builder or the CUNY Global Class Search tool. Only submit an ePermit application for courses that are available. Requests for courses not offered during the selected session or semester will be denied. Ensure all requests are valid and eligible before submitting them.
Hunter College do not deny ePermit application(s) if the host college’s course is currently closed or waitlisted. However, some host colleges may deny registration access if their course is closed.
